Cornerstone Junior Schools – Mukono Conduct Free and Fair Elections
The Electoral Commission of Cornerstone Junior Schools – Mukono, under the leadership of Mr. Ssemukwaya Umar, successfully organized and conducted a democratic electoral process for student leadership positions.
To ensure transparency and inclusivity, the commission publicly advertised the various leadership positions, inviting interested candidates to apply. A rigorous vetting process was conducted, culminating in a shortlist of qualified candidates. These candidates were then granted an opportunity to engage in open campaigns, where they articulated their visions and persuaded their peers to vote for them. The campaigns took place on the afternoon of Thursday, 20th February.

The polling exercise was meticulously organized, with invaluable support from the Mukono District Returning Officer. Essential election materials, including ballot boxes, ink pads, cordoning tapes, and aprons, were provided, reinforcing the credibility of the process.
This initiative is a significant step in fostering democratic values and nurturing representational leadership among learners. By engaging in this experience, students gain firsthand exposure to electoral procedures, leadership responsibilities, and civic participation—an essential foundation for future leadership roles in society.
As the process concludes, we eagerly anticipate the official announcement of the winners by the end of the day.
Sincere appreciation goes to the school’s Electoral Commission and administration for their unwavering commitment to upholding democratic principles and shaping responsible future leaders.
